On Celebration [July 02, 2007]
[ mood | okay ]

Will the 'fireworks' stop any time soon, do you think? It's hard to explain to my step-sister why everyone feels the need to celebrate for so long.

First years can be obnoxiously loud. Has anyone else noticed?

On Illnessssss [May 15, 2007]
[ mood | sleepy ]

Tracey - thank you for Poe.

Someone make Madam Pomfrey stop feeding me things that make me drowsy. I must wake early tomorrow and study! I do not enjoy being confined to a bed. But Cadwallader's feverish Beater skills are mildly distracting.

And someone stop Kirke from coming here and kissing people goodnight. Why is he called King? There IS no King in the United Kingdom.

While they are at it, someone stop Demelza Robins from coming in here and glaring at Beatrix Dunstan. It is unnerving. Why can't she just visit her other friends and leave the glaring for when I am not in her presence? Must she inflict her glares on the wider public when they are directed at one person?

And someone make me logical again. I think I'm losing my touch!

On Revision [May 05, 2007]
[ mood | creative ]

To all the people
who have only just started revising -
I pity you
and your lack of foresight.

What
unfortunate
souls.

To all the people
who started revising
since or during
the Easter break -
I still pity you
and your lack of foresight.

You are
less unfortunate,
at least.

Hold onto this.

To all the people
who started revising
before anyone
mentioned the word at all -
Yet still do I pity you.

You shall be
envied.

Who needs that?

The library is much quieter now. Thank you to the students who took notice of my disgruntled response to the situation - and to Miss Spinnet.

On Lack of Comprehension [April 27, 2007]
[ mood | annoyed ]

Carlisle must have received news from Adele that I spent most of my Easter break in bed – and misinterpreted. Hence the 'I hope you feel better' card. Not that I'm going to tell him I spent that time in bed exercising with one of Adele's severely deluded friends.

If it were possible to apply it to my situation now – I would. There are too many people talking in the library these days. No less, in the private study area. I don't care if you need to whisper about how to answer an Arithmancy question. The fact of the matter is that it is a library and it was private study.

Let me define 'private study' for you.

"Private" – [ PRY/vhet ] is an adjective. In this instance, it refers to the second meaning: 'secluded sufficiently to be alone, not watched, hear or disturbed by others'.

"Study" – [ stUH/dee] is a verb. It means 'to learn about something.'

Let us study - or consider this a little more closely. Should we put two and two together, one might just be able to conclude that a private study area is a designated place in the library where one is able to learn about something by themselves and not be disturbed by others.

That is all I wish to say – for now.
